Ancient Ruins in the Snow

This piece is inspired by romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich, specifically by his painting "Monastery Graveyard in the Snow" (1817-1819). To be fair, I've always been into Romanticism (and yeah, that From Software's well known saga). Ancinet ruins, gloomy forests, twilights, full moon nights and an overall sense of eerie but soothing darkness is what this is all about.
I wanted to experiment creating the snow material that goes on top of the assets I used for the scene. It's pretty simple, it just adds the snow textures on the G channel of the normals (vertices facing upwards), with some noise for variation, and some other basic adjusting parameters. It also supports tessellation, for close shots mainly. Since I'm not a technical artist per se, it was a great exercise to do.
The ruins elements were modelled in 3dsMax and later in ZBrush and the trees were created using SpeedTree. All materials were created in Substance Painter.
